What does the Prayer Ministry do?

When I first heard the question, what is the purpose of the Prayer Ministry, the response seemed a no brainer – the Prayer Ministry prays!  Duh.  But, on second thought, I suspect there is a variety of ideas concerning how we should be praying, who should be doing the praying, where we should pray and who we should be praying for.

So, I’d like to hear some ideas from you – what do you think the Prayer Ministry should be doing?  Whether you belong to TTUMC or you just happened upon this blog, your opinion is important.  Let me know what you think and in my next blog I will give you my thoughts.

  1. Jackie,
First off I think you are doing a great hob for us at TTUMC!
As for my self I do belive there is no wrong way to pray, unless, I asking selfessly only for myself.
I do enjoy or prayer meetings the 2nd. Saturday of each month.
You are a gift from God to us. Thanks for all you do.

  2. Thanks D.J. for the kind words! I agree that there is no wrong way to pray but I believe God wants us to pray for ourselves as well as otheres – look at the Prayer of Jabez that your Community Life Group has been praying as an example. When God blesses us, we can use those blessings to bless other people too.

Everyone who is part of the Prayer Ministry is a blessing not only to me but to all of those we are praying for.

  3. Jackie, I FINALLY have gotten around to learning how to read these — and, of course, after reading the Youth mission trip adventures, I turned to yours. You are doing a great job! I hope more people are reading it — you have some wonderful “nuggets” about prayer and about the ministry. I pray you will have time and energy to continue!

  4. I believe in the power of prayer, for the word says, “the prayers of a righteous man prevails much”. There is only one way to pray and that is to pray from the heart and speak the words that God is given you. I too have a prayer Ministry in every day before I pray I ask God to move me,self out the way because only he knows the desires and needs of his people. I just ask him to use me as a vessel, to give me the anointing to be able to entercede for someone who can’t do it for themselves. People know how to pray they just don’t know what to pray about.

  5. I too believe in the power of prayer as the saying goes little prayer little power, more prayer more power. Keep up the work Jackie we are with you

  6. Thank you Patricia and topministry for your encouragement. We are all joined together in our prayers wherever we live in this country & world. As James said “The prayers of a righteous man is powerful and effective.” Through our prayers, we can change this world.
